Let me start this post by yelling out, “HAPPY FRIDAY♥!” I’m SO happy the weekend is finally here!
Here are just a few of the quick and (mostly) healthy meals I cooked at home this past workweek. I live alone, so it’s especially hard to get motivated to go grocery shopping, cook healthy meals everyday, wash the dishes and pots and pans for that meal, then do it all over again everyday… all for just one person, me. But! It is worth it. Much better than ordering takeout last minute because of laziness or lack of food stored.
This one was a not-so-healthy impulse purchase while grocery shopping at E-mart today. It’s jjajangmyun (짜장면), a very popular “fast food” in Korea. Basically just plain noodles with a sweet brown sauce all mixed together that is usually ordered or delivered from Chinese restaurants here. No General Tso or Kung Pao Chicken here… it’s all about the jjajangmyun + fried pot stickers + tangsooyook (peices of pork fried and smothered in a very sweet, gooey sauce) set!
This package includes the pre-cooked frozen noodles and jjajang sauce that you simply boil separate and then mix together. The nice smiling lady was giving out little samples of the stuff, cooked from a little pan and giving off a heavenly scent. I was so hungry after walking home after work and I made the mistake of stopping by the Korean version of a Superwalmart in that state. I bought the frozen 5-pack dealio for $8 without any hesitation. Well, at least I bought other healthier ingredients, too. I’ll save these babies for a cheat day.
